Hi, my name is Benek. I created FotoMaps.

Some History

I've been designing and developing websites and Flash for over 5 years (insert portfolio plug here).

I recently moved from the States to New Zealand with my Kiwi girlfriend Jenny. As a hobby photographer I knew I'd want a fresh new photo gallery to display some old vacation shots and then continually update it with new photos as I traveled the country.

I wanted something different from the norm. Something that would show where my photos where taken. Something that was fun to navigate and explore.

I eventually came up with nz.ography. I loved it because of the interface, and how easy it was to add photos. After a weekend trip to the beach, I could have the photos up in minutes for my family to see.

And then, with some inspiration from Jenny, nz.ography spawned FotoMaps. I added some more features and made it more customizable. I developed a system to easily change the map, the colors, the text, so anyone could use it and make it just how they wanted.
